Barge Update

One advantage about living on a boat is that you can see where to make improvements when building the next one. The recent snow proved the need for underfloor insulation, so that is what Pete has been doing. He has also started building the framework for the heads (bathroom). I got a bit carried away and started touring the bathroom shops, nothing like forward planning! I am going to have a big butler sink in the pantry which will be okay for bathing Alfie (which he loves, strange dog!) which means we will have just a shower in the bathroom. Being somewhat lazy, I am beginning to think that a wet room is the way forward, as shower screens need cleaning!!! Has anyone else got any experience of a wet room, if so what do you think?

  1. Hi Fran, haven't used a wetroom ever... it sounds a bit like our bathroom though which is usually pretty wet!

  2. Hi Sammie good to hear from you, I was going to comment on your blog today as I love the 'tree house'. I laughed when I read your comment remembering when my boys were small and how they could turn the bathroom floor into a pond!!! Xxx

  3. I'm not sure what a wet room is, but in Mom's condo we took down the glass shower doors and installed a ceiling shower rod. A shower curtain hangs inside the lip of the floor pan that is raised on two sides. The other two sides are the shower wall section (rather than tile). A bit of spray gets on the floor, but a quick toweling takes care of it. - Margy

  5. Do you live all the time on Bonnie or only when you are doing it up as I noticed you said you had difficulty selling your house?

  6. Sft - thanks for that vote of confidence x
Margy - it sounds similar but in a wet room there is a slight slope to the floor so no shower tray and you don't have a shower curtain/screen. The whole room is one big shower cubicle!
Datacreata - we live on our yacht at the moment which is tied up to the barge. Our house is rented out to our youngest son, which is actually a good arrangement for us as we can store all our stuff at the house x
