Spinning!

No, I have not been on the grog! As I have been staying at work, there has been absolutely no excuse for not going to the gym. Normally I can get away with - need to get home for Pete, Alfie, going out, have to watch paint dry or anything else that pops into mind! However Jacqui, a lovely Sergeant Major at work, said that she was starting a introduction to spinning class for ladies and would I like to join them? She promised to be gentle! How stupid was I to believe that! I have discovered that spinning is actually a form of torture, obviously designed by someone with a very sadistic nature. Jacqui certainly showed her true colours, no wonder she is a Sergeant Major! And what can I say about that saddle, except that today I feel like I have enjoyed a full night's session (take that which way you like!!!). So will I be going back? Absolutely, but this time with a gel cover for that saddle!

  1. And I though you were walking funny because of the ice on the deck!

My first thoughts were "will you make me a jumper too" but then I realised.

    1. Billy - I am sure that come the summer you will see me on deck gently spinning the wool that I have collected from the fences over the sea wall and then I will knit you a jumper! Oh goodness, that sounds really good now considering how cold it is out there now!!!!

  2. Hello Fran, I have never taken a spin class, but I have bought gel seats for the two coaster bikes that we have. My old fat fanny requires maximum comfort, LOL
You tell Sergeant Major Jacqui to break you in gently, you have a posse of blogging sisters that don't want you hurt.
I hope that you are home soon. I'll bet Pete is getting pretty lonesome, and is probably getting bored with his own cooking.
    Your blogging sister, Connie :).

    1. Connie - mine too! However, I had to laugh at your comment as the word fanny means something completely different in the UK (google it!!). I love the fact that we share a common language yet some words have completely different meanings (fag is another one!). When you have looked it up you will see why the only person who has ever been allowed to call me Fanny Ann was my grandad (in his day it was a term of endearment and a common girls name but not now!) xxxx

  3. I LOVE the cartoon, Fran! I've never done Spinning. In fact, I have not been to gym in years, preferring to run off my excess energy, but I can well imagine how you feel. I haven't bee running since it started snowing, and as that has now been here for two weeks, I'm sure I'm going to feel awful when I start again. It's three weeks since I actually went running....oh dear! By the way, it's snowing again this morning :-(

  6. I thought it was the other type of spinning too to start with! I admire you as I would never go near a gym. I prefer my exercise to be walking or gardening!

    1. Sarah - I am with you one hundred percent. Walking and gardening all the time for me. But all my work colleagues are super fit and I have a lot of weight to lose, so I do have to go to the gym xxxx

  7. Fran,
I live in the US and looked up fanny.
I sure would be easy to get in trouble in the UK. LOL

  9. Very funny. I would love to take a spin class, but will stick with my Zumba for now. Don't know if my buttocks would be able to keep up through a full hour class. Keep up the good work.
    Blessings
