Looks Like Windows!

From a distance it looks like Pete has cut the windows out, but don't be fooled, he has just blacked them in so that he can paint round them!  It did give us an idea of what it will look like with the windows in and we have decided that we need another one (to the left of the bottom picture) as otherwise it will look odd.
Pete had a great birthday.  He was adamant that he didn't want a surprise party, so we just had dinner with a few close friends and it was a lovely evening.  Yesterday he went out sailing for the first time this year with Chris and Wendy, (see, I do let him have the day off occasionally, as long as he doesn't get too used to it!) and came back a happy man.  Back to work now Churchie!!

  1. I thought he went sailing in the van too! I had to visit the barge to see if the holes had been cut as the black had me fooled too. Isn't it amazing how windows look black?

  2. Blacked out windows - now that will save a lot of hardship in cleaning & curtaining ! Only joking, I know very well that you will enjoy every minute with the windolene :)
I think you are correct another window will look great. Am looking forward in seeing your boat finished, as I expect you are to.

  3. When John added a window to our bedroom, he cut out the hole in the wall, did the framing, and then nailed the original wall (we have wood siding) back in place. We had to wait two weeks for the custom size window to make it to Powell River. Now you see it, now you don't. It sure has made a big difference in the natural light in the cabin, even all the way into the living room area. - Margy

  6. How clever of you to paint them to see what they will look like! Your Pete is a brilliant creator and worker. I'll be he deserves his days off whenever they happen :)

  7. Billy - I was keeping very quiet about the van ending up underwater!
Mel - windolene(?) oh you mean the stuff that the window cleaner uses!!!
Margy - you could have painted a picture of a window on the wood!
Sft - will keep the photos coming each time we do something that makes a difference. Sometimes you do a lot of work and then don't actually see anything.
Ib - I will have to stop him going off sailing and tie a paintbrush in his hand!
Val - Just as long as he doesn't expect too many days off!
