Having had a few too many lagers yesterday lunchtime in the club, I invited 10 people back for more drink and some food. Thank heaven for the larder! I threw tins of tomatoes, baked beans, kidney beans, fried onions and sweet corn into a wok added veggie mince, garlic, ready cooked rice and chilli powder and voila, a vegan chilli. I also gently fried a bag of kale, added garlic, two tins of chick peas and two teaspoons of mint sauce. I put the two saucepans on the table along with corn wraps and let everyone help themselves, it was a feast fit for a king and even the die hard carnivores went back for more. Desert consisted of chocolate and coffee. A lovely afternoon spent with good friends. Now excuse me, I have a little headache that needs seeing to!
Sounds delicious and what a great picture! Hope your head recovers soon

What fun!!! And so great that you had all those beans in stock. Your larder is coming into its own. One thing I miss about England is jollies down the pub. It's not really the same here. Happy new year again, Fran!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Val, no pubs like they have in Britain. It's always surprising what you can whip up in a hurry.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you Fran,

Sounds great, spontaneous gatherings like that are always the most fun!
ReplyDeleteI did wonder how you were going to fit everyone it, and what the pantry was going to provide. Hope head is better now.

Ahhh, nothing quite like an impromptu party. Happy New Year, and all the very best for 2013.
ReplyDeleteThat all sounds so yummy!! I'll have to get myself some kale and corn wraps next time I make Chilli. I might have to make some later this week now as I have a hankering! Have a great 2013 :)
ReplyDeleteI raise a glass to you. Happy New Years. - Margy
