Quick Tour

I thought I would give you a quick tour of the allotment, warts and all! There's veggies and fruit growing, covered beds ready for mulching, areas waiting to be cultivated, greenhouse, coldframe and seed frame full of seeds all popping their heads up and the herb garden now in its third year and coming in to its full glory. Oh and a bed of comfrey feeding the bees.

  1. Looks great Fran! Except the blue tree of course :(

I'm growing my own patch of comfrey this year too but think the flowers will be purple when they flower. A friend gave me some of hers when she divided it last year - it's the Bocking 14 variety that doesn't self-seed.

  2. I love this time of year too! Full of promise- just before everything goes mental and the weeds are more or less under control. I didn't know that bees liked comfrey *off to investigate*

  3. Hi Fran, it looks like your weather has finally decided to turn. Your garden is great, you should be enjoying some wonderful fresh produce very soon and your herbs are fantastic. I do have lettuce ready for eating.
    I love spring :)
Have a glorious day, Connie :)

  4. All looking good, hasn't everything suddenly started to grow. We were only away for a few days yet the garden looks as though it were more like 15 or so.

  7. How lovely, Fran! It must be so satisfying to grow your own veggies. It must also be a very soothing place to be as well as quietly social. Do you use comfrey for medicinal purposes?

  8. Tanya, I am sure that the plants won't mind when they get there comfrey tea whether its white or purple! But I didn't know that the purple doesn't self seed.
Frantic, I know what you mean about the weeds, which is why my allotment is carpeted x
Connie, the weather is now absolutely glorious and let's hope it continues. My lettuce is not quite ready, but hopefully it will be next week x
Dc, it's amazing that only a few weeks ago it was snowing and looking like nothing was going to grow and now it's all going mad like you say x
Steve, we have had enough of the English rain to last us a lifetime x
Jo, perhaps you could start your own community gardens? X
Val, it is very satisfying to work at the allotment, very much 'me' time. I don't use it for medicinal purposes at the moment but I am looking into the whole herb use thing x

  11. I never know how or where gardeners find the time to do the work . I look at the grass and think perhaps I need to to mow that bit and the next time I look it is longer.... but Hey! You are evidently a very energetic young woman with green fingers- well done!
