High Ropes

Look what Fellowship Afloat have built just the other side of the sea wall next to the barge.  Pete thinks they have built it just for us, but there is absolutely no chance of getting me up there! Fellowship Afloat is a charity that teaches children from deprived areas to sail and the high ropes are an extra bit of entertainment for the kids when the tide is out.  I can't wait to see them playing on it as I love the sound of children laughing, but I think there may be a few screams.  I am also not sure it will do my blood pressure much good watching them from a concerned motherly point of view!  Roll on the summer....

  1. Hi Fran, oh it will be fun sitting on your barge and watching the children. I love that they have this charity and that kids are learning about sailing . . . how cool is that. You will have to take some photos after it gets all set up and going :)
    Happy weekend.

  2. Fantastic! I'm amazed Health and Safety permit it, but it looks huge fun. I'd like to try it myself!

  3. Oh you will have fun watching and listening even if it will be with your heart in your mouth. What a fantastic idea.

  4. O what fantastic fun for kids of all ages !

I think you might have to have a First Aid & splint kit available for those who fall, but hey ho ... Nothing like pretending to be a old fashioned pirate on a four rigger.

  5. I know what you mean, my heart ends up in my mouth when I watch kids, they have no fear. I expect you'll spend many an enjoyable hour watching them though.

  6. The ropes look great fun for the children, although it would be too high for me!

  7. When the children are climbing, I think I'd find a need to go for a long walk... : )

  8. Hi Everyone, thanks for all your comments. Hopefully the kids will have safety harnesses on! I think they are going to have an open day for the kids in the village to try it out first. My tree surgeon son is desparate to try it out. I will post the pictures as soon as it happens xxxx

  9. I think I would be torn between wanting the kids to have fun and learn fearlessness, and being very very worried about them holding on - at least I would prefer watching to climbing these myself
