The 'Lived-In' Look

As there is not a lot else I can do, I have been surfing the net.  I found this barge for sale.  There is something about this that I really like.  It is not fashionable, not even shabby-chic fashionable,  and it is certainly not all poshed up.  But there is something distinctly welcoming and homely about it that really appeals.  Also, the baskets of apples are quite appropriate for the start of Autumn.  Although I saved this picture I cannot for the life of me find the barge again to give credit, so please accept my apologies if it is your boat.

  1. How homely and cozy it all looks. The apples are a lovely touch as well. I suppose this is giving you inspiration for the feel of your own barge, Fran.

I do hope you aren't feeling too bad, and that everything will be sorted out soon. Rest up and keep looking at those barges.

  2. I wish my cabin could support a wood stove like that. When I was in elementary school my best friend's family had a cabin in the high desert. They used a wood stove for cooking and the cabin was so small it also provided the heat. Her mom made clothes on a foot treadle sewing machine. Even then I thought it was all fun and quaint. - Margy

  3. Val - Because I hate this house that I have lived in for the last 20 years (long story, another time!) I have never considered it my home. I am determined that the barge will be very much a home and will reflect mine and Pere's personalities.
Margy - How do you heat your cabin now, you are so remote.
