Some Girls Get Diamonds.....

Some girls get diamonds for their birthdays, others get chocolate and flowers.  This is my birthday present.....

Now, do not get me wrong, I am absolutely chuffed with it.  I did originally want a pink one, but Pete said he would not be seen dead ever wheeling a pink one!  As it was, he got some serious stick at Doe's, where he is a regular customer, when he went to buy this!  On a practical note, I wanted a wheelbarrow that was light and yet sturdy and this definitely meets that criteria.  As well as using it on the allotment, I can use it to carry stuff, such as shopping, from the carpark to the barge.  On top of that, Pete got me a load of horse manure for my two new raised beds.  Oh, I am so spoilt, bless him!

  1. Brilliant! That sounds like just the kind of prezzie I'd be thrilled with too. Congratulations on your birthday, Fran!

  2. Whadda guy! And happiest of birthdays to you!

I am reminded of the big blue wheelbarrow we had when we lived aboard in Northern California, when the daughters were about 5 and 2. Hubby was finishing the inside of the boat and caring for the children and doing all the grocery shopping and cooking (If you are wondering what I was doing, I was working more than full time as a home health nurse to pay for the endeavor).

Don would take the girls to the grocery store with him, and when he got back to the marina, he would load the groceries and the daughters into the wheelbarrow! They loved it! And it was quite a ride, as the boat was waaaaaaay at the end of the float.

    Good times.

  3. Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday......

Is that a pair of oars I see in the barrow, tender for one perhaps.

Looks rather lush up there, I must have a view one day.

Bit rough today. I was nearly seasick yesterday, the whiskey was sloshing from one side of the glass to the other. I dream of dry land and allotments.

    Billy.

  4. Thank you everyone (actually my birthday's on Wednesday and I will be 21 and a few months!).

Val - wait until you see the blue wellies with butterflies and thistles, that go with the wheelbarrow, you will be seriously jealous!

Sue Ellen - what a wonderful memory, I hope you have got some photos.

Billy - stop fibbing, there is no way you dream of dry land and allotments. However, when I get my shed up you are welcome to come and have a cup of tea made on the primus! PS get a taller glass and then you won't spill the whiskey!
